The Ragged Tooth Shark or Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) is a large species of shark that inhabits coastal waters worldwide, mainly North America, Japan, Australia and South Africa. Despite it's fearsome appearance it is relatively placid and slow-moving. Their diet consists mainly of fish, crustaceans, squid and skates and is regarded as vulnerable. It is not regarded as a threat to humans as there have been only two recorded fatalities.
