Artist's Description

(Original Caption) Camera Which Made Official Picture of Lincoln Found in Washington Studio. Washington, DC: The original camera which was used in making an official photograph of Lincoln when President, ordered by the government. The photographs were made in 1864 on a wet plate, the original plate still being preserved by the Rice Studio owner of the camera. The old type head rest which was used to keep the subjects from moving is also shown. The photographs were made by the late Amos Rice. July 28, 1925.
