Hollywood came calling when location scouts chose The Big 8 Motel for Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman to play a crucial scene in 1988's Rain Man. The motel's actual location in El Reno, OK didn't suit the story, necessitating the Amarillo's Finest sign which proprietors have kept as a souvenir. Just as aggressive as the Big 8's signage is this 1968 Plymouth Road Runner, which was described as the most brazenly pure and non-compromising super car in history by Motor Trend magazine. Aimed at the eat a burger, burn some rubber crowd, the Road Runner was designed to accelerate to 100 mph within a quarter mile. You can almost smell the rubber and hear the squealing tires.
