This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air top-of-the-line convertible was a high-class ride that featured Chevrolet's first V-8 engine. There is a suggestion of a jet-age aesthetic but the car retains an organic friendliness with visored headlights giving it an almost animal demeanor. One of the friendliest restaurants ever is Bob's Big Boy a fast-food franchise whose mascot is the smiling big boy with a huge burger held aloft. This branch is the oldest surviving example of the chain. Designed in 1949 by architect Wayne McAllister it epitomizes postwar Coffee Shop Moderne architecture and was recently declared a historic landmark in its hometown of Burbank California.
