(Original Caption) Edison seeks successor by schoolboy contest...Forty-nine boys, chosen from every state and the District of Columbia, will arrive at West Orange, N.J., July 30th, as the guests of Thomas A. Edison to take an examination. The boy getting the highest average will be given a college education and will later enter the Edison Laboratories under Mr. Edison's supervision. This recent photo shows the old "Electrical Wizard" who is using this contest to select his successor.
