Artist's Description

(Original Caption) The Howard Hughes War Contract probe reached a stormy climax today when sub-committee chairman Homer Ferguson (R-MI) issued a new subpoena for Hughes' press agent, John Meyer, and ordered another subpoena to force the plane-builder, shown on the witness stand, to produce his private papers. The partially deaf Hughes is using a special earphone to enable him to hear the questions put to him by the Senate War Investigating Committee.Image provided by Getty Images.
